An external advisory board was created to assist Iduka award scholarships through its African pilot project. The Scholarship Advisory Board, a group of educators, school administrators, prominent public figures, officers of other non-profit organizations, and distinguished business people, is responsible to select our scholarship recipients.
Qualifications for awarding these scholarships are based on need, as well as academic achievement and outstanding potential to become a leader in one of Iduka’s focus areas.
Membership
The Board shall consist of an uneven number of members with full voting privileges appointed by the Board of Directors.
Terms of Office
Individuals appointed to this Board serve three-year terms in a non-paid capacity.
Conflict of Interest Policy
The families of Board members are not eligible to receive scholarships during the time their family member serves on this Board.
Officers
The members of the Board shall elect a Chairperson, a Vice Chairperson, and a Secretary at the first regular meeting of the Board. They shall serve in those positions for a period of one year.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Board will be responsible for reviewing student portfolios submitted to the Board by Programs’ Committee and making recommendations on scholarship participants. The Board shall convene at the request of Iduka’s Executive Director or Iduka’s Board of Directors. The officer requesting the meeting shall preside the meeting.
