A New Era of Collaboration

During the fund development phase (phase 2) that started at the beginning of May, 2011, the focus of our African Pilot Project shifted from setting up teams of student intern volunteers across Africa (phase 1) to working together with local field partners around various fundraising events that include two core initiatives: cycle for education and the creation of student portfolios in our focus areas.

Neville  Albert

Neville has found his dream course in Mohamed Amin’s Television and Film Training Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. Neville believes his studies will allow him to help give voice to communities like those at the Kakuma refugee camp. “I choose to use my videography skills to help the community.”

Cycle For Education

Are you ready to pedal? If so, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to cycle for education in the next 2 1/2 years.

As our African pilot project embarks on its fundraising adventure, we invite all to join Jolandie Rust as she circumnavigates Africa on her bike.

Jolandie today announced her  African circumnavigation solo bike ride to benefit Iduka and its campaign to promote and raise funds for girls’ education in Africa.

Jolandie will be undertaking this feat completely unsupported in her attempt to be the first women to solo circumnavigate the world’s second largest continent on a bicycle.

“I want to inspire people to follow their dreams and encourage girls to dream with their hearts,” Jolandie said. “Partnering with Iduka on this 2 1/2 year, 40,000 kilometers journey, will allow me to emphasize to the girls I’ll meet along the way that their dream of a better future for themselves and for Africa starts with education.”
